How your style evolves with the seasons

I hosted an event in London last week, in the middle of the heatwave. It was a style workshop, where I explain how to find your personal style and each woman creates her own style board based on her current needs or image goals.

One question I got asked was that ‘does our style change with the weather seasons? And obviously the weather that day was a good example as it was over 30 degrees, so comfort and practicality came first for everyone, but how does this translate to our own style?

My short answer to this question was: your personal style doesn’t disappear when the seasons change.

It adjusts, it adapts—but the foundation stays the same.

In summer, many women feel drawn to flowing fabrics, natural textures, lighter tones. You might wear cotton dresses, linen trousers, strappy sandals, raffia bags. It feels softer, more relaxed. Sometimes a little bohemian.

But these choices aren’t random. They say something about you.

You value comfort. Practicality. A feminine, effortless look.

You want to feel light and free in your clothes.

And that’s your style speaking, underneath the fabric and the trend.

When autumn or winter arrives, that same style doesn’t just disappear. It shifts.

The flowing dress becomes a knitted midi or a soft wool skirt. The open shirt becomes a warm jumper in a natural fibre. The linen trousers turn into wide-leg trousers in heavier fabric—like wool or corduroy. You still want movement. You still want softness. Just in a way that keeps you warm.

Here is a simple example.

If you love wearing a floral dress in summer—something light, romantic, with gentle colour, that says you enjoy softness and femininity in your style.

In winter, you might feel great in a silk blouse in a rich tone, paired with tailored trousers or a midi skirt and boots. It’s the same energy, just expressed in a different way.

You’re still honouring the same values: softness, elegance, beauty.

You do not need to create a completely new wardrobe every season, just find the right pieces that align with your style and find new ways to express it when the weather changes.

Personally, I love light, breathable fabrics in the summer—but I still want my winter style to feel elegant and feminine. So I look for coats with beautiful shapes, soft textures like brushed wool, knitwear that feels luxurious and comfortable. I don’t want to feel restricted or too structured just because it’s cold. I still want to feel like me.

This is where many women feel disconnected.

They love their summer wardrobe, but feel lost in winter. Or they feel their style looks completely different depending on the month. But once you understand the values behind your style—what really matters to you when you get dressed—then adapting it becomes much easier. And more enjoyable.

Some women love getting dressed in summer, others feel more inspired in winter.

Personally, I’ve always preferred winter. The layers, the fabrics, the structure—it gives me more to play with while still staying true to my style.

But no matter which season feels more natural to you, it helps to bring a little of that energy into the opposite one. If you love the ease of summer, look for that same lightness in winter through soft textures or fluid shapes. If you feel your best in winter, try bringing that structure or richness into your summer wardrobe with more intentional silhouettes or deeper tones (yet still from your colour palette).

This is how you stay connected to your style year-round—by blending practicality with personality.

Your style isn’t about changing with the weather. You stay close to who you are, no matter the season, but your wardrobe plays differently throughout the year.
